January 6th Hearings Format
The format of the January 6th hearings are pretty interesting. It's a use of a lot of videos, so it seems like the production for primetime event is very aware that a majority of viewers are going to see clips of this reproduced in other mediums, whether it's the nightly news or YouTube, or some other online platform. So, the use of clips, like a majority of this is just video footage of testimony from the past year and a half. I think that's very interesting. Another interesting part of the format is at the end of each hearing. Liz Cheney gives a next time on the January 6th hearings. Complete with a video clip and a preview of what's going to happen when to tune back in. It's very interesting. It's almost like the end of a linear drama getting that previously on the January 6th hearings. Next time on the January 6th hearings, kind of intro and outro to each proceeding. I think the format is interesting and we'll see if it's more engaging than other hearings have been. I guess another interesting point is that this is fairly, fairly, I say most of the time, almost all the time that you're watching this, it's a Republican speaking or the best form of each argument is made by a Republican. The questions are asked by Republicans and it's a lot more show not tell. It's not the committee members pushing a narrative. It's a committee member showing a clip of testimony usually from somebody inside the Trump administration. Constructing their own narrative and explaining the point from their point of view. I imagine that all you'll hear for the next six months, these were partisan witch hunt blah, blah, blah, but they're really going above and beyond on the format too. At least make it very difficult to argue in good faith that this is being driven solely by politics.
