LED abuse in product design
I have an air pure fire at home and it's got a bunch of LED lights on there and the comical thing is if you want to turn off the light like there has a main light that's pretty large circular on the bottom of the device and it glows right so just to kind of look cool and I don't know I guess those different colors to tell you whether the air is clean or if it needs to be clean or if it's really dirty and it goes from that blue to green to I believe like yellow and an orange I don't know if it goes red probably not but the comical part is if you want to turn off that light if you want to have no glow in your room let's say you're sleeping in a dark room at night you have to press another button that lights up so to turn off one light you have to turn on another and I don't know I think the world could use less of that like there's a lot of LED abuse going on in devices and it's getting to the point where it's like just utterly ridiculous it's comical to a degree and then it's just annoying and I don't know who needs to hear this product designers physical product designers and I guess they would be called industrial designers right because they design products that are produced by them but anyway there is LED abuse going on any ease to end I don't know how we're going to accomplish this who is going to go on national television to shout this but I'm not the only one who's noticed this like I've seen other people who are equally annoyed and I don't know why we have to make products so difficult that's just kind of my gripe with some of the products that are on the market today another gripe that I have with these products is the fact that many of them are not child proof they're not made for children like I'm guessing that people that design these products don't have children and they've never realized what a pain it may be to have a product that can be pressed by a child and used by a child I don't know I guess it takes to be apparent to appreciate that or you have a product that you can press a button for example long enough and locks the device so it can be pressed I've had like the device that I'm talking about the air purifier that I have that glows when you want to turn it off also doesn't have a child lock so to me that's like the ultimate arrogance you have the arrogance of not thinking about kids because this is a device that's on the floor in the living room a lot of times where kids are going to be blind and you have the arrogance of adding LEDs that turn on when you want to turn the manual on off it's like I don't know I've I guess if I knew about this I probably wouldn't buy it but my complaints and I'm just this device specifically it's just a trend the trend of LEDs on devices I guess it's also part of the larger trend there is also kind of like the smart home trend where everything is becoming connected in some form of fashion to the internet and to me that's very very annoying impractical and frankly not the purpose for that device but I guess a lot of people don't have the problem I know like people like my mother are super excited about fridges with TVs on them and screens I play music and things and when I look at that I'm like what's the point like why would you want to listen to music from a crappy fridge speaker like that is making sense to me like if you're going to listen the music have a good sound system just generally a better setup why would you listen to it from a TV I mean from a fridge doesn't make any sense and that topic could be expanded a lot further I should probably do another episode on smart devices like smart home devices how annoying they can be but you know I'm not one who hates technology I love technology I love new things I love playing around a new tech all the time it's exciting to me but when I see trends in tech that are privacy invading that are oh that's the fork of every dumb bell that are comforting they just do things that they shouldn't really do that really bugs me and I just want to voice that I don't know if you feel the same way and listen to this maybe you do maybe you don't. I'm curious what you think. Share your thoughts.
